Anything worth doing is worth overdoing well!

Last week I may have bit off a little bit more than I could chew. So much in fact that is has leaked over into this week. Where to start? First off too much walking! All those pictures from last week, I walked many miles to get them. No car, no taking the metro or bus, just simply putting my feet to pavement and putting in some miles.

Speaking of walking I also walked 18 holes of golf Sunday which was yet another activity that I may have done to excess this weekend. I hit two large buckets of balls Saturday night which gave me a few blisters and really left me sore the next morning. Surprisingly I actually got better as the round went on and payed a decent back nine save for the last hole. By then I was completely hungry from not eating lunch and my body only wanted to be in a horizontal position at that point!

I refereed two hockey games in three nights last week as well. One was the day after walking to downtown to take photos and the second game was just a few hours removed from walking to Olympic Stadium to get more photos. I wore my heart rate monitor for both games as well and between the two I burned over 2400 calories!

This week is just a continuation of last week. I’m in the zone so I may as well keep the momentum going!

Blogging when it’s sunny and 80 degrees? Ain’t nobody got time for that!

I haven’t been posting lately because the weather has been absolutely incredible! So needless to say I have been enjoying it while I can. At any time it could get cold around here again and it looks like by this time next week we will have highs in the 50’s again, but I will be on a beach in Mexico by then! So this past week has been like a preview of my upcoming vacation except that I can actually drink the water!

It’s also the NHL playoffs so I’ve been spending my evenings watching the games on TV. I’m not a fair weather or a band wagon hockey fan either. I follow my team (The Montreal Canadiens) throughout the year and catch parts of other matches from time to time. When it’s NHL playoff time I watch most of the other teams play. I will even stay up late and watch the end of the games of the teams playing on the west. The Stanley Cup playoff tournament is the most grueling tournament in all of sports, bar none! Playoff hockey, there is nothing quite like it!

Tomorrow I’m playing golf in the 80 degree sunshine! First round of the year and I haven’t played since September so I’m not sure I will even keep score. I’m going out early enough in the day that there should not be many people on the course at all so it will give me a chance to practice a bit a well. I need work on my short game mostly because that is what saves my rounds most of the time anyway. My long game is erratic even when I practice a lot. The key is to know my miss and then play it. I have improved in that aspect of the game and consequently my scores have been lower. Tomorrow is all about finding the swing again so that I can lose it somewhere on a beach in Mexico!

Anyhow back to the sunshine…

Golf

GolfIt’s that time of year again!

Here in my corner of the world the golf courses are finally open and it’s warm enough to finally go out and play a round comfortably. Despite being average at best playing the game I do enjoy it. I will be the first to admit that I am a bit of a golf junkie. One of these days I might actually be good at it!

Here are some things that constantly remind me of golf even when I am not on the course:

  • The smell of fresh cut grass.
  • The sound of birds in the trees.
  • A nice warm breeze in the Springtime.
  • The taste of hot dogs!
  • The sound of people yelling profanity!
  • The sound of anything being dropped into water!

What’s not to love about this game? It’s just a shame that I can’t play it year round! I’m really looking forward to teeing in up soon!
