Every once in a while I find that it’s a good idea to take a step back from life and realize just how small of a role I really play in this universe. Indeed the world does not revolve around me and in many ways I am glad that it doesn’t. It is easy to get blinded into thinking that way given the life long pursuit of titles, awards, accolades, friends, respect, promotions and material things that we have become accustomed to. In a world driven by competitiveness and achievement it comes as no surprise to me that people fall into this trap.
Step back a moment a look at your real circle of influence. Most likely it is your family, close friends and maybe a few coworkers. In a world populated by billions most of us are of significant importance to just a small handful of people and that’s it. We should all be okay with that. Be important to the people that matter. Life is so much easier and less stressful that way!
